April is a month full of promise and new life. The songs of returning birds bring hope that the harshness of winter is giving way to the sunny days and warmth of spring. While at the same time, it’s virtually impossible to keep from smiling with all the glorious daffodils bobbing in the spring breeze alongside hyacinths, tulips and dwarf irises.
On April 22nd Canadians from coast to coast to coast will celebrate Earth Day and all the wonderful gifts that Mother Earth provides. Over 1 billion people from around the world participate each year. However, Earth Day is more than a celebration, it’s a commitment to living more sustainably so that there will be enough clean water, unpolluted air and arable land to support life seven generations from today.
As with Mother Earth, women living with, leaving, or healing from abusive relationships also find themselves under tremendous stress and facing a seemingly unending stream of demands. This situation offers few chances to truly relax and enjoy the moment. Quite often, the longer this situation continues, the harder it is to think clearly and make the best decisions for yourself and those in your care.
The Women’s Centre of Halton (TWCH) offers women the opportunity to set aside their worries and recharge their emotional and physical batteries. Consider these essential respites play for the weary woman’s soul.
The WCH is a safe, compassionate place to find support, explore life, and make connections. The Women’s Centre provides a wide range of services and programs as well as referrals to local community agencies that can best serve each client’s needs.
This month make time to do something special for yourself. Make the commitment to go to at least one of these free events from the TWCH’s Monthly Calendar:
