The Women’s Centre of Halton (WCH) is often the first place a woman finds support during difficult times. The WCH offers a wide range of services designed to meet individual needs and can make referrals to local community agencies when additional support for women and children is need.

Walking through the door is often a very difficult first step, but it’s one of the best choices any woman can make. Breaking out of the isolation is hard, but the WCH is welcoming, inclusive and can help women build their self-esteem and confidence.

What better time to sign up for programs offered by the WCH than when your kids go back to school. Programs offered in the WCH’s Oakville and Milton locations offer support, family and employment legal advice, as well as self-care.

If you are not in need of the WCH services then please consider volunteering, fundraising, or donating to this worthy cause. There are many unique opportunities to get involved with the WCH that will make you feel great about giving back to your community.

If you have some spare time, please consider joining one of our committees or putting your talents to work fundraising, marketing, providing peer support, or facilitating a workshop.

As a nonprofit volunteer organization, the WCH is always looking for community support and relies on community contributions. We welcome all fundraising activities whether done on an individual basis, or through group efforts within your workplace, local schools, sports teams or by involving friends and family throughout the Halton community.

Financial donations mean the WCH can offer valuable programs and workshops to women in crisis, distress and those transitioning to a better life. The WCH is a registered charity and provides receipts for donations over $10.00 made by cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard, or online through Canada Helps.

The WCH welcomes donations of gift cards for local stores so clients can purchase much needed items. We also accept new women’s and children’s clothing. General office supplies are much appreciated since they help keeps things running smoothly. Please call 905-847-5520 to find out exactly what we need to help give women in the Halton community a hand up.

Why not sign up for the WCH Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 22! Enjoy a fun filled day with friends and then share a story or two about the hole in one that got away over a three-course prime rib dinner. Join us from 1 pm. to 8 pm. at the Loweville Golf Club, 2662 Britannia Rd., Burlington.

Each November, the WCH partners with The Grandmothers Advocacy Network (GRAN) of Hamilton to facilitate a community event during the United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence. On evening of Tuesday, November 27th at the beautiful Art Gallery of Burlington a panel of educators will shine a light on the important role men and boys play in ending violence against women. If you are able to contribute gifts or prizes for this event please contact the WCH. If you are planning on attending this event watch for more information.

September is a new beginning for many women. Kids returning to school gives them time to get counselling, sign up for classes, attend workshops, or just enjoy meeting new friends over tea at the WCH. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who donate time and money to the WCH. Your support helps us make life better for women and children in need.
