This series of workshops will assit in improving your Digital Literacy skills, from basic computer skills, internet use, emails and more.
Please note: although this eventbrite page only shows February 5th this is a 5-session series. When registering for the first workshop on 5th February, you will be automatically registered for all 5 workshops.
February 5, 2024: Workshop 1: Introduction to Computer Basics
Participants will learn the fundamentals of computer operations, including terminology, performance features, and operating systems. They will also explore topics like online safety, security, and privacy. Expect to gain a solid knowledge of computer fundamentals and the confidence to navigate the digital world safely.
February 12, 2024: Workshop 2: Internet Use for Daily Life and Job Search
This workshop focuses on practical internet skills for daily use and online job searching. Participants will learn how to navigate the web efficiently, use search engines, maintain online connections, and conduct safe online transactions.
February 26, 2024: Workshop 3: Introduction to Email Fundamentals
Participants will gain a hands-on introduction to critical communication tools such as email. The email portion of the workshop will walk participants through setting up a Gmail account, cultivating good email etiquette, drafting professional emails, and exploring other forms of online communication.
March 4, 2024: Week 4: Introduction to Zoom
Participants will learn how to set up a Zoom account, organize and join meetings, understand Zoom etiquette, and use functions. How to create registration Zoom links and invite friends.
March 11, 2024: Workshop 5: Introduction to Google Docs and Basic Canva:
This workshop teaches participants how to use Google Docs, a collaborative platform for creating and editing documents. They will learn everything from creating new documents to formatting text and images and utilizing collaborative features. Participants should expect to learn how to use Google Docs for personal and professional purposes. How to use Canva and navigate the platform; students will also learn how to make business cards, social media posts, e-birthday cards, or any occasions.
