Digital Literacy Series

September 18 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

These workshops are for women to improve their digital literacy skills through practical, hands-on activities.

This series of workshops will assit in improving your Digital Literacy skills, from basic computer skills, internet use, emails and more.

Please note: although this eventbrite page only shows September 18th, this is a 6-session series. When registering for the first workshop on 18th September 2023, you will be automatically registered for all 6 workshops.

Monday, September 18th, 2023- Workshop 1- – Introduction to Computer Basics:

Participants will learn the fundamentals of computer operations, including terminology, performance features, and operating systems. They will also explore topics like online safety, security, and privacy. Expect to gain a solid knowledge of computer fundamentals and the confidence to navigate the digital world safely.

Monday, September 25th, 2023- Workshop 2 – Internet Use for Daily Life and Job Search:

This workshop focuses on practical internet skills for daily use and online job searching. Participants will learn how to navigate the web efficiently, use search engines, maintain online connections, and conduct safe online transactions.

Monday, October 2nd, 2023- Workshop 3 – Introduction to Zoom and Email Fundamentals:

Participants will gain a hands-on introduction to two critical communication tools: Zoom and Email. Participants will learn how to set up a Zoom account, organize and join meetings, understand Zoom etiquette, and use functions. The email portion of the workshop will walk participants through setting up a Gmail account, cultivating good email etiquette, drafting professional emails, and exploring other forms of online communication.

Monday, October 9th, 2023

This is the Thanksgiving holiday, so we will not be open. So, we will resume for the 4th workshop on Monday, October 16th.

Monday, October 16th, 2023- Workshop 4- Introduction to Google Docs:

This workshop teaches participants how to use Google Docs, a collaborative platform for creating and editing documents. They will learn everything from creating new documents to formatting text and images and utilizing collaborative features. Participants should expect to learn how to use Google Docs for personal and professional purposes.

Monday, October 23rd, 2023-Workshop 5- Introduction to Google Slides:

Participants will learn how to create engaging presentations using Google Slides. The workshop covers adding text, graphics, and animations to create professional slide decks. Expect to feel confident in creating, editing, and sharing professional presentations on Google Slides.

Monday, October 30th, 2023- Workshop 6- Introduction to Google Forms:

The last workshop focused on creating surveys, quizzes, and forms using Google Forms. Participants will learn to personalize Google Forms, add questions, and analyze response data. After completing this workshop, participants will know how to use Google Forms for different purposes, including gathering feedback and conducting research.
