Stronger Together Series: Police Reporting

December 19 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST

Free
Join us for the third workshop in the Stronger Together Series. This workshop focuses on the ins and outs of reporting IPV to the police.

Erin has worked in various roles in Halton Police’s Victim Services Unit since 2014, both as staff and as volunteer. While her full-time role involves preventative outreach and safety planning to those involved in family conflict and overseeing Victim Services’ Sexual Assault program, she has also worked long-term in the Victim Quick Response Program Coordinator role, and the Intimate Partner Violence Victim Coordinator role, helping survivors to navigate government and community supports and “next steps” after police intervention.

In this workshop, Erin will be discussing

  • What is IPV in terms of the law
  • What are mandatory charges
  • How to report to the police
  • Preparing to speak with an officer
  • What happens if there are no criminal charges
  • What happens if there are criminal charges
  • Different court orders
