Writing as an Emotional Outlet

February 1, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EST

This virtual workshop offers gentle guidance to help you embrace the writer in you in a safe, encouraging space.

Join Shannon Day for a 6-week “Writing as an Emotional Outlet” workshop as she offers gentle guidance to help you embrace the writer in you. In a safe, encouraging, space you can explore your emotions and ideas through a variety of writing activities each week.

Writing as an emotional outlet can be a liberating and empowering activity. No pressure. No judgement. Just you, your pen (or fingers) and your notebook (or laptop). The experience of “writing out” your emotions can act as a stress release. It may even lead to more personal clarity regarding your thoughts and feelings as well as a greater sense of autonomy. Everyone’s lived experiences are unique and valid and what you take from this workshop will be too.

Giving yourself the opportunity to purge your worries, stresses, fears, and ideas can open up opportunities for greater self-understanding. Writing as part of a group can lead to new bonds and connections. You may share some of your written words with other group members and you may not, this is always your choice.

Suggested Topics and Concepts: rage writing, spotlight on the elephant-in-the-room, self-love, focus on the fear, capture a snapshot (writing a funny or sweet memory), motherhood.
