Development and Program Coordinator of Services

The Development and Program Coordinator of Services in our North Halton Support Initiative of The Women’s Centre will include management of the program and existing developments, researching and vetting new development opportunities, coordinating due diligence of projects and supporting the goals and mission of our agency. This role will support the Executive Director, manage the support program, and support the needs of The Women’s Centre’s clients in north Halton. The primary focus of our agency is to support women going through crisis, distress and transition. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of women’s issues with a demonstrative working anti-oppression and anti-racism framework.

Specific responsibilities include:

 

Development

• Further the development plans of the agency and seek out new opportunities

• Oversee the marketing and fundraising for growing the North End Support Initiative

• Donor research, acknowledgement and records management

Relationship building, manage the community engagement program

• Strong advocate and voice in the community regarding women’s issues

• Plan and Coordinate all fundraising events for the North Halton Support Initiative

• Include an annual fundraiser to support operations and special events planning

• Assist with solicitation letters, proposals, stewardship and sponsorship packages

• Publicity for the agency, build community awareness through positive community outreach

 

Administration

• General office management

• Administrative support

• Format print letters, memos, envelopes, labels etc.

• Maintain relevant content on website and social media platforms

• Monitor/order office supplies as needed and ensure proper resources are available for clients

 

Program

• Oversee the health and vitality of the North Halton Support Initiative, including the legal clinic

• Supervise volunteers and students and provide on site support and address performance concerns directly and liaise with the Volunteer Manager

• Deliver general orientation to volunteers and students participating in North Halton Supports

• Keep up to date records and logs for reporting on program

• Ensure there are adequate number of trained volunteers to provide support to clients, for major events and other agency requirements.

• Provide input into volunteer development and help implement volunteer program and plan as set out by the Volunteer Manager

• Implement the volunteer program and plan as set out by the volunteer manager

• Deliver a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and development program that provides appropriate volunteer supports for program and major agency wide events.

• Build and maintain relationships with volunteers, building commitment and support of volunteers to the agency

• Work closely and assist the Volunteer Manager

• Document key processes and procedures for management.

• Place and schedule volunteers on site

• Maintain a core group of volunteers that can be assigned based on needs of the agency

• Work on site at major events to provide support, and assist with set up and tear down at events

 

Education & Experience

• Post-secondary education in the human services field (social work, child and youth work, education, Psychology ,etc.) or equivalent work experience within a culturally diverse community-based setting

• Proven skills in program design, development and evaluation

• Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing culturally diverse clients

• Knowledge of community resources, government benefits, systems and processes

• Demonstrated group facilitation skills

• Minimum of three (3) years related experience, and demonstrative experience developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising plans and experience in planning special events

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills

• Hold effective management practices and processes

• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, problem solve and make sound decisions

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively motivate volunteers and lead large groups to achieve objectives

• Excellent interpersonal skills, strong “can do” demeanor, open, approachable, tactful and politically sensitive. Possesses the ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and situations

• Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and unexpected issues

• Skilled at issues management – has an ability to identify, report and resolve issues on a timely basis – highly disciplined with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on a variety of commitments and deadlines

• Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite of products and database management

• Willingness to work occasional weekends or evening

• Must have a valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle is an asset

• Police Clearance Required

• Must have a strong knowledge of the community and supports available to women
