We are CLOSED on Monday April 2nd, 2018!

We believe that all women deserve to be treated with compassion and respect. We also believe that each woman who comes through our doors is important and unique. The Women’s Center is a safe, compassionate place to get support, explore life, and make connections.

Many women feel as though they have nowhere to turn when they are in crisis. We are often the first place to which a woman comes when looking for support. We provide a wide range of services, as well as referrals to other local community agencies that can best serve each client.

DROP-IN SUPPORT

Our “Women Supporting Women” model drives our support, guidance, encouragement, and the opportunity for our clients to express their feelings and explore their options. Whether a woman needs immediate support, information, has a question or concern, or just needs someone to listen to her with whom she can connect, we are here. We are able to provide on demand support for any woman who needs to talk to someone, whether her concerns are great or small. We provide immediate support so that women can discover their own strengths and abilities, gain confidence, learn coping strategies, get connected to additional resources, learn skills of self-empowerment, or find their voice and discover their true potential.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNITY REFERRALS

If you are looking for a service in the community, we are here to provide you with information and referrals to various agencies and community services that will meet your needs.

RESOURCE LIBRARY

Access information on many common issues women are facing. Receive brochures, booklets, and other resources on the topic you are seeking more information about.

COMMUNITY DROP-IN CIRCLE

Drop-in for our Conversation Circle and meet with women from all over the Halton Community who are looking for interesting, casual, and lighthearted discussion. Have a hot cup of coffee or tea, and fresh baked goods free of charge. We help support women to make positive social connections in order to combat social isolation. Monday mornings, 10am to 12pm.

WORKSHOPS, SUPPORT GROUPS, COUNSELLING, COACHING

At The Women’s Centre, we provide an opportunity for women to learn, grow, and recognize their own strengths and abilities. We offer individual coaching, supportive counselling, support groups, and workshops. We educate women to find solutions to their own life situations. Click here to learn more about these programs and services.

COMPUTER AND EQUIPMENT ACCESS

In need of computer access? Internet access? Need to print documents or send an email? Come use our community available computer free of charge. Computer, printer, phone, scanner and various office supplies available as needed.

SELF-CARE ASSISTANCE

Personal care items are available for women in need such as shampoos, soaps, conditioners, hair products, toothbrushes, tampons, and pads.

TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENTS

We provide transportation reimbursements for many of our programs in order to eliminate barriers to access support. Because demand far exceeds our resources, women should call ahead to see if transportation reimbursements are available at that time.

INTERPRETING SERVICES

Our diverse pool of volunteers and team members speak a variety of languages. Depending on availability, a support session may be available in a clients’ first language. Interpreting services are provided for all women who are experiencing abuse, though 48-hour notice may be required in order to book an appointment.

EMERGENCY LEGAL CERTIFICATES

A two hour Legal Aid Certificate may be available for women who are experiencing abuse and/ or an immigration crisis, and are in need of immediate legal advice. Eligibility depends on circumstances and income. Please call for more details.

HOLIDAY FAMILY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The Women’s Centre accepts applications for both sponsored (those families who are in need) and sponsors (those who wish to sponsor a family) starting in October. This program allows for complete anonymity, as only The Women’s Centre will know the names of the sponsored family. These families can provide wish list for each family member. Our sponsors use this list to shop for a family in need. This program allows our community to come together and spread a little happiness during the holiday season. Please contact the Centre for more details. The deadline for all applications is November 1st.
